Hi! My name is Leah {pronounced Lee-yuh}. I am a professional organizer and the founder of Fabulously Organized Home.  I really enjoy organizing and decorating…REALLY!  I love my husband {Smith} and our furry friends {clockwise from top left Millicent, Merriam, Jackson, and Oliver} so very much!

We live in a cute house that I’ve been “nesting” since we moved in nearly 3 years ago.  In that time I haven’t gotten much better at cooking and I’ve killed a lot of  plants.  However, I love learning and experimenting and hope that someday I’ll be better at these things…because I really want to be.  I love traveling…especially road trips out west with Smith.  We also enjoy fishing together and eating out at well-reviewed restaurants in the Houston area.  I love GOOD food!

What led me to becoming a professional organizer?

I’ve had a knack for organizing since I was a little girl.  I loved rearranging my closet and bedroom at the start of each season.  It always felt so refreshing! Because I grew up an “only girl” with two brothers, I was lucky enough to have my own room to maintain as I pleased.  I favored a simplified space and found enjoyment in sorting and removing clutter–all in an effort to make sure my fabulous room decor wasn’t overshadowed.  Everything had a place and displayed items had a purpose.

As I became a young adult, I found myself needing to manage more than just my space…time management and finances were a real challenge.  College studies, work, home maintenance, and healthy eating (cooking) were all competing for my time.  I had to learn how to balance it all and found myself creating strategies and a POA (plan of action) for managing my time and money.

After graduating college with a degree in education, I taught high school art. I learned how to create a FUNctional, well-organized, and well-managed classroom.  My teaching experience helped me to better work with a variety of personalities and needs.   I also realized that I really liked working with people individually rather than working with large groups.

Getting married, moving to a new state (while taking a break from teaching), and becoming a domesticated lady also had its challenges.  I needed to manage our home and wanted to “feather the nest” in preparation for the addition of children.  So, I spent some time getting things in order and making our new house a beautiful home.  In that time, I realized that I have a real LOVE for organizing.  And, helping people bring order to their lives is something that I would truly enjoy pursuing as a career.  I had discovered my niche!

The Fabulous Blog…what you should know.

My plan for the blog is simple.  I want my readers to receive meaningful content that is helpful and inspiring.  In addition to clever organizing and functional strategies for getting your life in order, I will also share with you my life and my love for my family and pets.  I will share ideas and projects as I nest and prepare our home for our upcoming adoption.  And when we finally do adopt, well I’m certain there will be posts about that too.  As I experiment with cooking and gardening, I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.  I’m sure it will be entertaining.

A little about my husband, Smith.

He’s very involved in the mechanics and assembly of any project I come up with…and I ALWAYS have a new idea up my sleeve :-)  As a wonderful partner and supporter of me and my blog, he’s dedicated himself to assisting me in making Fabulously Organized Home a success. Yahoo for Smith!!!
